The Lead Analyst is a senior-level individual contributor responsible for driving the strategic use of data to inform business decisions and enterprise direction. This position sits at the intersection of business intelligence (BI), advanced SQL querying, data modeling, and analytics strategy. The successful candidate will serve as both a subject matter expert and hands-on practitioner-developing frameworks and leading initiatives that unlock the full value of the organization's data assets.
This role is ideal for a highly experienced analyst who brings strategic thinking, technical leadership, stakeholder influence, and a business-outcomes orientation. The successful candidate will also serve as a mentor to peers, a partner to IT and business stakeholders, and a leader in shaping the future of data architecture and analytics capabilities.
What you'll do:
Business Intelligence & Analytics Development
Lead the development and implementation of enterprise BI and analytics solutions aligned with strategic goals.
Design and oversee the creation of dashboards, self-service tools, and data products that drive cross-functional decision-making.
Evaluate and integrate new data sources and technologies to expand the analytics ecosystem.
Stakeholder Engagement & Strategic Influence
Act as the primary liaison between business leaders and technical teams to define and translate analytics needs into impactful solutions.
Provide consultative insight to senior leadership regarding data opportunities that drive growth, efficiency, and innovation.
Track and communicate the business impact of analytics initiatives using measurable KPIs (e.g., cost reduction, revenue enablement).
SQL Development & Query Optimization
Design, write, and optimize advanced SQL queries for analytics, modeling, and reporting purposes.
Apply query tuning techniques and participate in code reviews to maintain performance and reliability.
Ensure data accuracy, availability, and scalability across systems.
Data Modeling & Architecture Leadership
Design and maintain logical and physical data models that support analytics and BI goals.
Partner with data engineering and IT to refine star/snowflake schemas, enhance warehouse architecture, and evolve data infrastructure.
Contribute to data architecture strategy, ensuring alignment with evolving business needs and platform capabilities.
Governance, Standards & Risk Management
Champion best practices for data governance, integration, security, and lifecycle management.
Develop and enforce metadata management, lineage tracking, and cataloging standards.
Ensure compliance with data privacy, security, and regulatory requirements (e.g., CCPA, GDPR).
Technical Leadership & Cross-Team Collaboration
Lead architectural review sessions and influence key technical decisions across analytics initiatives.
Provide mentorship and knowledge sharing to other analysts, engineers, and data stakeholders.
Serve as a key technical advisor and partner to cross-functional teams, driving innovation in analytics methods and platform usage.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, Business or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of experience in business intelligence, analytics, or related fields
Expertise in SQL development, including query optimization and troubleshooting
Strong background in data modeling (logical and physical) for analytics platforms and data warehouses
Proficiency with BI and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker, Qlik, Sigma)
Proficiency in advanced mathematical/statistical techniques
Deep understanding of data warehousing, dimensional modeling, and metadata management
Foundational knowledge of data governance principles and compliance frameworks
Strategic thinking with strong business acumen and stakeholder management skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; able to translate complexity into clarity
Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Experience with Agile, Scrum, or other project management methodologies
Passion for leveraging data to improve business outcomes and drive innovation
