Job Summary

Prepares detailed ACAD drawings of telecommunications, IT infrastructure, building layouts, and room arrangements to facilitate installation of the telecommunications and IT infrastructure, ensuring drawings are compliant with building regulations and engineering principles. Communicates with engineers and SMEs to determine layout requirements. 

Telework is supported at 100% / Hybrid or Offsite possible in the future. Travel is required. 

Responsibilities and Duties

Develops, reviews, and updates Installation Design Packages (IDPs) for 30%, 60%, 90% and final design reviews in accordance with the NIWC Shore Installation Process Handbook (SIPH) guidance. Drafts complete and accurate drawings as required including technical details using drawings, rough sketches, specifications, and calculations. Interprets project briefs and meeting with engineers and technicians to ensure all technical drawings are completed to specifications. May require periodic shore site visits to gather information and determine limitations and feasibility of designs for new installation design drawings and. Conducts research when required. Supports the verification of the design specifications and assure accuracy of red-lined drawings upon project completion. Prepares post installation as-built drawings that become part of the facility records in AutoCAD to US Navy standards. Selects required information from precedents, manufacturers; catalogs, specifications, and technical guides. Provides support in defining and developing detailed calculations, drawings, design and installation packages, technical reports, and detailed analyses Communicates potential design issues to engineers and technicians, remaining professional when feedback is delivered, and implementing any changes to drafts as soon as possible.
Experience in DoD/NWIC Shore drawing specifications (i.e., IRD and IDP development) IAW NIWC Shore Installation Process Handbook (SIPH) standards. Provides drawing statuses and maintain trackers of status milestones and reviews. Understands drawing requirements from Site Survey Reports and other resources to determine drawing requirements. Attends meetings and gathers information pertinent to drawing tasks and interpret requirements.

Must be able to enter data and status information into web based products. Familiarization of using MS TEAMS. 

Qualifications and Skills

Required knowledge and years of experience

Must have least five (5) years of experience in AutoCAD and possibly ACAD Training. Must have experience with NWIC Policies. Must have knowledge in ACAD, MS Teams, MS Office Products, NWIC CMPro, and SPIDER.

Education Requirements

High School Diploma is required but college is a plus.

Clearance Requirement

Secret is required, but Top Secret is desired.
