National Grid is hiring a Senior Analyst, Customer Energy Management in Waltham, MA

Job Purpose
The Senior Analyst on National Grid's Customer Energy Management team will help plan and develop our $160 million per year energy efficiency and building decarbonization programs for commercial and industrial (C&I) customers. The candidate will provides leadership to achieve alignment of internal, regulatory, and stakeholder priorities while maintaining a focus on meeting customer needs and expectations for National Grid's full suite of C&I offerings. These offerings provide financial and technical assistance to support building decarbonization and energy cost reductions across the spectrum of C&I customers, from microbusinesses to major industrial customers. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to apply critical thinking and an understanding of both the broad market landscape and detailed views to design and deliver a cost-effective portfolio of energy management solutions that are innovative, holistic, and accessible. In contributing to team delivery of energy and cost savings for customers, the Senior Analyst will focus on efforts to optimize product offerings in support of delivering on regulatory commitments around achieving energy savings and greenhouse gas emission reduction targets, while achieving shareholder incentive targets.
Key Accountabilities
- Develops an understanding of C&I customer needs and priorities, including differences that may exist among segments of customers. Develop an understanding of relevant building energy technologies and solutions to meet these needs.
- Conduct research and analysis on economic, technical, and customer data and conditions.
- Design creative solutions that support both near-term adoption of energy efficiency and electrification measures and long-term transformation of the building energy industry, with a particular focus on electrification of HVAC and hot water systems and industrial processes.
- Actively position future integrated energy services linked to energy efficiency programs and services to support National Grid's achievement of program targets and climate change objectives throughout the company, and advance National Grid's position as a leader in these fields.
- Partners with several internal teams, vendor partners, and other Mass Save program administrators to evolve the portfolio of customer energy management solutions for customers. With an understanding of each team's expertise and requirements, achieve alignment on planning, development, and implementation as it relates to energy efficiency strategies. Make informed, authoritative recommendations regarding the energy management portfolio. Seek ways to improve internal processes and foster cross-functional collaboration. Champion continuous improvement of customer energy management offerings
- Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders involved in the policy and regulatory process, and acts as an effective representative on behalf of National Grid and all of the Mass Save program administrators. Attends regulatory meetings as necessary.
- Provide analytical support in order to enable effective negotiation of a portfolio targets and funding levels with stakeholders, including relevant advisory councils and their consultants, regulators, local governments, customer groups, environmental organizations, and others.
- Provides analytical and research support in pursuit of approval from regulators on proposed plans and achievements through successful management of the regulatory approval process.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory mandates and processes, including potentially being called upon to testify before state legislative and regulatory bodies to support National Grid's energy policy and energy efficiency, demand reduction and climate change program. Stay informed of and assesses the potential impact of relevant regulatory and policy developments.
- Support the optimization of commercial product and service development to support regulatory requirements, meet compliance obligations, and achieve shareholder incentives and other performance-based regulation mechanisms in support of creating value for customers and driving improved financial outcomes for National Grid.
- Evaluate key themes and options through the analysis of various programmatic and technology-based alternatives to identify how different scenarios may impact energy efficiency program results and to develop state energy policies.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in a public policy, business, political science, environmental or mechanical/energy systems, or engineering related area or 3+ years of related experience, or equivalent work experience. Advanced degree/credits are preferred.
- Knowledge of the electric and gas industry; energy efficiency programs; and local and national energy policy.
- 3+ years of energy efficiency evaluation, design, or energy industry related analytical and/or regulatory work.
- Experience with project management.
- Knowledge of National Grid's business operations, company policies and practices.
- Knowledge of relevant industry practice.
- Proficient in relevant software e.g. Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong oral and written communications skills.
- Understanding and appreciation of procedural, distributional, structural, and transgenerational equity as they relate to energy

Salary
$108,000 - $127,000 a year - Waltham, MA
Salary commensurate with location and experience
This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
