  • Collaborate with team members to build the strategy to iteratively identify/design analogs that advance the project (pharmacology, ADME, safety) via the application of structure-based, ligand-based, property-based, and efficiency-based design.
  • Work collaboratively with key functions such as DMPK, Biology, Chemical Biology and Proteomics, Bioassays and High Throughput Screens, and Physical Biochemistry to deliver optimal Small Molecule candidates.
  • Maintain a significant laboratory presence that is focused on identifying and enabling critical synthetic chemistry for advancing the project that can be used by chemistry CROs and the internal/external Biogen Parallel Medicinal Chemistry (library synthesis).
  • Maintain an understanding of cutting edge synthetic chemistry and how it can be applied to their own project and other projects in the department.
  • Leverage internal Synthesis Technologies resources such as High Throughput Experimentation, Parallel Medicinal Chemistry, and Purification to drive impactful synthesis strategies that advance their project.
  • Oversee external chemistry CROs to maximize the efficiency of compound synthesis and characterization.

Who You Are

You are a medicinal chemist with experience in an industrial setting along with a proven track record of impactful contributions on small molecule drug discovery programs. You enjoy working in cross-functional teams to advance compounds towards clinical candidate selection

Required Skills

  • Ph.D. in organic or medicinal chemistry with minimum of 3 years biopharmaceutical medicinal chemistry experience or M.S. with a minimum of 5 years biopharmaceutical medicinal chemistry experience
  • Demonstrated ability to influence project advancement.
