Job Summary
The General Manager is responsible for overall management, promotion and operation of the venue including construction, purchasing, policy formation, booking, marketing, finance, food and beverage, box office, advertising, security, production, maintenance and all related operations. This position is also responsible for initiating, providing direction, and planning the administration and operational management for physical plant and equipment, finances and personnel in a manner that is consistent with the goals and directives of the AEG Corporation. Duties include leading and directing operating departments, management and staff; coordinating and executing plans and directives; and performing on-going liaison with Corporate staff, industry associates, governing agencies, the media and the public.
Essential Functions
- Facility Operations and Planning
- Leads the planning, coordination, and direction of all operations and staff responsible for maintaining and running facility, which includes a stadium and velodrome
- Reviews and enhances operational policies and procedures to ensure they support safe, efficient, and high-quality event delivery
- Develops and manages the annual master calendar, including game days, cycling events, concerts, community activities, and training sessions, along with projected attendance and revenue targets
- Oversees daily operations, ensuring seamless execution of all scheduled events and efficient use of facility resources
- Conducts post-event reviews to evaluate operational performance and financial outcomes, identifying areas for continuous improvement
- Establishes and maintains standard operating procedures across key functions such as marketing, ticketing, parking, maintenance, security, food and beverage, and venue administration
- Ensures compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA and public safety codes specific to large-scale sports and entertainment venues
- Prepares and maintains operational reports and financial records required by the city, league offices, and/or the venue’s management organization
- Business Development, Community Engagement, and Financial Oversight
- Actively promotes facility usage and negotiates lease agreements in the facility’s best interest
- Directs procurement of events and activities; negotiates contracts with industry agents and partners
- Directs the development and execution of operating and marketing financial plans, including revenue and expense budgets, job hours, and capital expense planning
- Sustains programs and policies that promote employee morale, safety, service quality, and overall performance
- Establishes and maintains effective relationships with civic organizations, city personnel, media, lessees, home team, employees, and the public
- Coordinates responses to internal and external directives and requests, ensuring organizational integrity and effective communication
- Implements company-prescribed plans and programs, including training, development, quality assurance, community contributions, and employee engagement
- Budget Preparation & Reporting: • Prepares, implements and monitors a detailed program budget
- Oversee the cost accounting required of assigned events including facility rental, box office fees, house equipment rental, supplies and services purchased, event supervision, ushers, ticket takers, ticket sellers, security officers, announcers, parking attendants, stage managers, stage crew and spotlight operator
- Prepares and maintains required reports/records for the city and/or the management firm
- Staff Management:
- Responsible for recruiting, training, supervising and evaluating administrative and operations staff
- Conducts marketing, budgeting and weekly staff meetings
- Determines and establishes organizational structure and personnel staffing requirements for effective and efficient utilization of personnel
- Ensures the development and maintenance of employee job descriptions, duties, responsibilities, and performance standards for all positions with provisions for timely and effective employee performance evaluations
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS Degree (4-year) (Advanced Degree Preferred) Sports Management, Business, Public Administration or related field
- 10+ years Related work experience in arena/venue/stadium management or related roles, with a strong focus on strategic leadership and operational excellence
- Proven track record of managing complex P&L statements and budgets.
- Experience leading capital improvement projects
- Experience in developing and maintaining strategic partnerships within the sports and entertainment industry.
- Business Acumen: Exceptional ability to manage P&L, negotiate contracts, and drive revenue through innovative strategies.
- Leadership: Inspirational and results-driven leadership style, with the ability to recruit, develop, and retain top talent.
- Operational Expertise: Strong background in ensuring operational excellence across marketing, security, food and beverage, and guest services.

- In-depth understanding of the operations of large sports arenas, including box office management, event booking, engineering, communications, and housekeeping.
- Knowledge of financial principles, including budget development, P&L management, and financial reporting.
- Familiarity with strategic planning processes and frameworks, particularly in the context of venue management and event promotion.
- Understanding of contract negotiation and management principles, including compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of capital improvement project planning, execution, and assessment.
- Familiarity with HR practices, including recruitment, training, performance evaluation, and employee engagement strategies.
- Strong leadership skills to inspire, motivate, and manage a diverse team effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of articulating vision, strategy, and operational needs clearly to various stakeholders.

Payscale: $330,000 - $380,000
Bonus: This position is eligible for a bonus under the current bonus plan requirements.
