UNIT DIRECTOR (LICSW, LMHC) POSITION SUMMARY
Unit Directors provide essential services to an underserved population. Specifically, Unit Directors are responsible for overseeing a unit within a therapeutic milieu focused on providing intensive treatment services to individuals who have been convicted of a sexual offense. They are responsible for the creation, implementation, and monitoring of individualized treatment plans aimed at decreasing risk of re-offense upon release. Unit Directors provide training and ongoing supervision to clinical therapists who facilitate treatment within the Unit Director's assigned unit. In addition, Unit Directors facilitate treatment for individuals who have engaged in sexual offense conduct. These staff members also assist in the evaluation of participants for program progression and graduation. Unit Directors are essential to the treatment program's ultimate goal of ending sexual violence, or "No More Victims."
Our program views sexual offense conduct as a symptom of broader issues, and with that in mind, we provide a holistic, strength-based treatment program consistent with the best practices set forth by the Association for the Treatment and Prevention of Sexual Abuse (ATSA). The treatment program uses group-based clinical interventions within a cognitive-behavioral framework to address the dynamic (i.e., changeable) risk factors that led an individual to engage in sexual offense conduct. At the same time, participants are taught skills to improve their quality of life, develop a sense of purpose, and establish healthy alternative behaviors in order to navigate life without harming others. The Risk-Need-Responsivity model is also used to guide the intensity of treatment, determine the most salient risk factors in need of intervention, and to tailor the treatment approach to the participant's individual learning and interpersonal style, which is in accordance with best practices and empirically-supported treatment of individuals who engaged in sexual offense conduct.
An ideal candidate holds a master's degree in a human service-related field (e.g., social work, psychology, mental health counseling). Candidates must be independently licensed (e.g., LICSW, LMHC). Ideal candidates are conscientious, organized, intellectually curious, excellent team players, maintain strong boundaries, adept at clinical case conceptualization, and possess excellent clinical writing skills. Candidates who thrive in a fast-paced environment with challenging clinical cases are especially well-suited for this position. Although this position requires independent licensure, Unit Directors attend clinical supervision; candidates should be open to the clinical supervision process, as well as receptive and willing to implement feedback. Prior experience working in the field of sexual abuse treatment and prevention is not required; all necessary training is provided following official hire.
