POSITION SUMMARY

As a Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the technical infrastructure, support and operations for our corporate offices in State College, PA. You will also be providing technical services to our broader Advisors and end clients.

Your primary objective will be to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of all technical systems and processes, and to drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational effectiveness. You will collaborate with technical professionals and cross-functional departments to align technical operations with overall business objectives for our clients and internal structures.

The Systems Administrator plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of an organization's technical infrastructure. By overseeing operations and implementing best practices, you will contribute to the success of the organization, its technological capabilities and customer loyalty/satisfaction.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Technical Infrastructure Management:
  • Develop and implement strategies for the design, deployment, and maintenance of technical infrastructure, including networks, servers, storage systems, and cloud platforms.
  • Ensure high availability, scalability, and security of technical systems to meet business requirements.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and trends and evaluate their potential for improving operational efficiency.
  1. Operations Management:
  • Establish and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) to streamline technical operations and ensure consistent performance.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and lead resolution efforts to minimize downtime and disruptions.
  • Analyze business requirements for IT needs and systems.
  • Evaluate IT operations relative to established goals.
  • Manage the complete software and hardware lifecycle for all assets, from procurement to deployment to production to end of life.
  • Implement disaster recovery plans and procedures to safeguard critical data and systems.
  • Manage company help desk operations, escalations, and provide Tier 2 support.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define operational metrics, track performance, and implement improvements as needed.
  • Report progress and challenges to senior management.
  1. Vendor and Budget Management:
  • Evaluate and select vendors and service providers and manage vendor relationships to ensure effective delivery of technical services.
  • Develop and manage the technical operations budget, tracking expenditures, and identifying cost optimization opportunities.
  • Strategic planning, including the ability to align technology initiatives to business objectives.
  1. Compliance and Security:
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, industry standards, and best practices in data privacy, security, and disaster recovery.
  • Implement and maintain robust security measures to identify and eliminate security risks to protect the organization's technical infrastructure and sensitive information.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field; OR equivalent work experience (3-5 years) in technical operations, infrastructure management, or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with network architecture, cloud computing and cyber security concepts.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies, enterprise storage systems, and network protocols.
  • Experience overseeing successful IT projects.
  • Experience leading a team is preferred.
  • Experience working in an MSP or solutions provider environment, or a consulting background is preferred.
  • Attention to detail. This is a detail-oriented position that requires excellent organizational skills with an ability to prioritize.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on driving continuous improvement.
  • The ability to communicate highly technical concepts to a non-technical audience. Effective communication and collaboration skills are critical in working with cross-functional teams and senior management.
  • Must demonstrate good writing skills. The Systems Administrator must be able to clearly document systems and procedures in a way that is consistent with current standards.
  • This is a client-facing position. You may be required to present to end clients, advisors and their staff, or at internal company events.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+ and Security+, Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP)) are a plus.
