Job Purpose

To be responsible for the safety, reliability, security and integrity of theoverhead electricdistribution system through the daily supervision and organization of operations personnel to complete job tasks while complying with Company and regulatory requirements. This role provides emergency response and supervision of personnel engaged in a 24-hour, 7 day per week operation. This position will be a 2nd shift position, working between the hours of 2pm-12pm, on a 4/10hr day schedule. This position will require frequent extended hours, possibly through the night to support our emergency response and critical operations.

Key Accountabilities

  • Supervise a culturally diverse workforce through coaching, counseling and team building to ensure tasks are carried out in an efficient manner.
  • Oversee theOverheadElectric operational workload of team to ensure allocated resources are fully utilized in order to deliver against agreed upon work plan and execute work activities within planned unit and budget.
  • Ensure supervisedOverheadElectric teams comply with safety standards, policies and processes in order to ensure a safe working environment and minimize risk for all staff.
  • Review, ensure accuracy and execute the approval of area purchase orders, invoices and payroll activities.
  • Execute all work tasks in compliance with all Company, Federal and State policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Build good working relationships with internal & external customers and manage the day-to-day relationship with them in order to understand their requirements and deliver appropriate solutions within National Grid policies and processes.
  • Monitor performance of allocated Underground staff including issues relating to sickness, discipline and poor standards of work in order to ensure that work is performed efficiently and effectively.
  • Act as theOverheadfirst point of contact for multiple internal stakeholders and outside agencies in order to provide support and ensure National Grid deliver against service level agreement.
  • Promote and implementOverheadElectric best practices in order to ensure all work tasks achieve high productivity and low costs.

Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required

  • Strong leadership, influencing, customer orientation and communication skills, providing the ability to promote team working and harmonious working between site staff, project teams and contractors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in a related area or 5 to 7 years' of relatedOverheadexperience, or committed to 'on the job' training programs with practical experience of methods, processes and techniques relevant to area or discipline.
  • Technically proficient within subject matter and experience of leading a team involved inOverheadField operations activitiesis preferred.
  • Ability and knowledge to develop standard operating procedures for field personnel to performOverheadelectric work and connections on energized distribution/transmission facilities is preferred.
  • Must have skills to excel in creating and maintaining relationships with our external stakeholders and customers, including first responders.
  • Must have a working knowledge of utility emergency response including dig ups, wires down and broken pole situations where safety is a critical component during expedited repairs.
  • Must have, or possess the ability to develop a working knowledge of information systems critical to the work management, financial reporting and performance tracking of theOverheadDepartment.
  • Must have or possess the ability to develop knowledge and understanding of National Grid's policies and processes and how to apply them effectively to theOverheadDepartment.
  • Must have demonstrated or possess the skills to build effective, respectful, working relationships.
  • Ability to perform off-hour coverage and provide sound decision-making during emergency situations.
  • Valid driver's license required.

More Information

Salary: $105,000 - $148,000

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Internal candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
