Wespath, recognized as a 2017-2024 Chicago’s Best and Brightest Companies to Work For® and a 2018-2024 National Best and Brightest Companies to Work For®, has an opportunity for a Senior Data Engineer that plays a crucial role in managing and optimizing data infrastructure at Wespath. The engineer is responsible for designing, building, deploying, and maintaining processes and solutions that will allow the business to make critical data-driven decisions. In coordination with project teams and IT management, the engineer will work with the business in defining project scope, requirements, and timeline for deliverables.
More specifically, as a Senior Data Engineer you will:
- Plan, design and implement the technical infrastructure for storing, processing, and analyzing data, including databases, data warehouses, data lakes, etc.
- Create and manage processes that take data from various sources, transform it into a usable format, and load it into a storage system.
- Utilize CI/CD pipelines to deploy solutions to target environments.
- Monitor data quality processes to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
- Perform data modelling and design for Wespath data and reporting applications.
- Collaborate with business users to create and support Business Intelligence reports.
- Conduct proof of concepts to guide technical implementation of modern data engineering tools and frameworks such as Azure Data Factory, Databricks, or MS Fabric.
- Document data and reporting application implementations, configurations, and support requirements as needed.
- Analyze and understand business user requirements to effectively develop solutions that meet business needs.
- Communicate regularly with stakeholders to provide updates on project progress and gather feedback.
- Implement data governance frameworks to ensure data quality, security, and compliance.

- The compensation range for this position is $133,000 - $147,000 with a bonus opportunity and customary benefits. Final compensation will be set based on the hired applicant’s qualifications (education, training, and/or experience related to this role), and as such, may fall outside the range shown.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Management Information Systems, or a closely related field.
- Seven years of experience in the solution development life cycle for developing and maintaining data processing and reporting applications.
Extensive experience with:
- Designing and implementing data, analytical and reporting ecosystems.
- Data transformation development (ETL/ELT) tools (e.g., SSIS, Informatica, DataStage, etc.).
- Reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Domo, Infor Birst, or other similar tools.
- Data modeling tools such as ER/Studio or Erwin.
- Performance tuning and database design for SQL Server.
- Building Operational Data Stores, Data Marts, Data Warehouses, Data Lakes, Lake Houses.
- Working with non-relational data sources such as flat files, excel files, JSON files, and APIs.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience or familiarity with:
- One or more Cloud Data platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
- Emerging technologies such as machine learning and artificial intelligence.
- Data quality management and master data management, including tools such as Talend or Informatica
