Quad is seeking a Second Shift Rewinder Operator at our Spartanburg, SC location. The Rewinder Operator is responsible for the setup and operation of specialized rewind machines, ensuring visual quality control and the proper slitting of printed materials into specified widths. In this role, it is crucial to maintain product quality and efficiency in the manufacturing process. Skilled operators are needed to effectively manage the complex functionalities of this machine while ensuring consistent quality.

2 pm - 10 pm - M-F - $1.50 shift premium
Key Responsibilities
- Loading the printed material onto the unwinder section of the rewinders.
- Using the machine inspection system to detect defects like print misalignment, missing labels, color variations, or damaged edges.
- Adjusting the slitter blades to cut the web into desired widths based on product specifications.
- Winding the slit material onto new cores, maintaining proper tension and roll formation.
- Splicing sections of web material together when necessary to maintain a continuous roll.
- Adjusting settings like speed, tension, and alignment to optimize production quality.
- Identifying and documenting any quality issues encountered during the process.
- Performing routine cleaning and preventative maintenance on the Rotoflex machine.
Required Qualifications
- Previous Rotoflex rewind experience preferred.
- Previous machine operator experience required.
- Prior manufacturing experience within the print, packaging, or related industries.
- Mechanically inclined to troubleshoot common issues and machine malfunctions.
- Basic math to be able to read measurements and calculate roll lengths.
- Effective communication skills with other team members to report issues, coordinate production changes, and maintain quality standards.
- Ability to lift 10-15 pounds continuously, ability to lift to 50 pounds occasionally, stand long hours (8-hour shift), use hands and wrists continuously in controlled movement, receive and follow instructions, and use vision to identify defects.
- Willingness to 8-hour shifts, work over-time and holidays as required, adjust to changing production schedules as needed.
