About the Role:
The McKinley Lab studies the biology of the uterus using rodent models and human tissues. We are seeking a Research Technician (RT) to join our team to assist with bench-level experiments and laboratory organization. More information on the lab can be found on their website.
We are ideally targeting candidates looking to stay within the lab at least 2-3 years before moving on to their next opportunity or graduate/medical school.

Weekly meetings with the Investigator and lab members in a collaborative and highly team-oriented setting.
What You'll Do:
Organize and maintain the rodent colonies (carrying out husbandry, rodent identification and genotyping).
Serve as study coordinator for a study on human menstrual blood; enroll and consent participants.
Assist with ongoing lab projects e.g. molecular biology techniques, cell culture, tissue processing, animal surgery.
Analyze experimental data; address methodological problems in experimental protocols and interpret results.
Record experimental results and maintain accurate lab records, provide oral and written reports as requested.
Prepare and order necessary laboratory supplies. May work with vendors to address equipment, reagent, or supply issues.
Receive and organize laboratory reagents and consumables, track inventory.
Interface with veterinary staff and other labs; serve as lab safety officer and representative to institutional safety and animal oversight groups.
Participate in regular meetings with relevant lab personnel and the PI.
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and coordinate repair.
Facilitate the distribution of research materials to other labs.
What You Bring:
B.A. or B.S. in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Chemistry, or related discipline is required.
Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize responsibilities are required.
Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently are required.
Knowledge of cellular and molecular biology and the ability to apply this knowledge are required.
Two years of laboratory experience is strongly preferred.
Prior experience in handling/screening/colony management of small animals (mice) or willingness to learn.
Physical Requirements
Remaining in a normal seated or standing position for extended periods of time; reaching and grasping by extending hand(s) or arm(s); dexterity to manipulate objects with fingers, for example using a keyboard; communication skills using the spoken word; ability to see and hear within normal parameters; ability to move about workspace. The position requires mobility, including the ability to move materials weighing up to several pounds (such as a laptop computer or tablet). Work may involve possible exposure to malodorous vapors, low dose radiation, contamination by toxic chemicals and acids and presence of carcinogenic substances or other hazardous materials.
