Summary

This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, within the Office of Engraving. As a Project Manager (Technical), you will lead discreet projects to develop, evaluate, and/or implement equipment, processes and products. The PM works with multiple offices within the organization to coordinate efforts, build schedules and execute customer projects.

Duties

As a Project Manager (Technical), you will:

  • Develop and follow project plans, gaining needed approvals and support, defining needs and requirements based on success criteria for each project, evaluating potential BEP products through verification and validation testing, and successfully transferring the product to production.
  • Lead or direct others in addressing highly complex issues related to materials, equipment and operations; as well as administrative issues relating to procurement, internal control, product and information security and accountability, budget, environmental impacts, and employee safety.
  • Coordinate administrative and scientific aspects of testing, including any required technical assistance from other BEP components, security and/or product accountability, and participation of outside facilities where necessary.
  • Maintain contacts with representatives from the Department of Treasury, the Federal Reserve, the Currency Technology Office, the United States Secret Service, and other government agencies as appropriate, private industry, contractors, academic institutions, trade unions, and banknote printing companies, both inside and outside of the United States, in reference to the aforementioned studies, analyses and research.

For the GS-13 all candidates are required to have one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 level or equivalent in either public or private sectors, that is directly related to the position as listed in this announcement and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position includes ALL of the following:

- Experience providing written and oral reports to management, customer agencies and stakeholders regarding product development activities; AND
- Experience monitoring progress and budget performance in the area of manufacturing; AND
- Experience leading or directing others in the development of project testing plans to evaluate suitability of products, processes and equipment.
