ABOUT THE POSITION

The Fixed Term Program Coordinator supports the Communicable Disease Unit in the Public Health Division of the Health and Human Services Department. The Program Coordinator's work focuses on harm reduction and HIV, Hepatitis C Virus (HCV)/Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs). The Program Coordinator works with a multidisciplinary team providing overall program coordination including monitoring program processes and outcomes, communicating program status and objectives to internal and external partners, supporting the convening of coalitions and councils, and organizing and submitting grant related fiscal and program information for approval to Program Manager.


This is a fixed term position that is initially funded up to 5/31/2027. However, there may be opportunities for the hired individual during this time-period to move to a regular, ongoing position as other vacancies or promotional opportunities occur, or the position may be funded and convert to an ongoing position. Fixed-term employment ends when the position's funding finishes, or the work is completed. Employees in these positions are exempt from the County's policies regarding lay-off order and reduction-in-force rights.

Health and Human Services has embraced a hybrid work schedule that considers that some duties of this position may be performed remotely and options to telework up to three days per week and work remaining days onsiteare available; however, the successful candidate must be able to report to County facilities for meetings, work assignments, and/or disaster service work upon short notice, as needed and deemed appropriate. While onboarding and training, the successful candidate may be required to work primarily onsite before establishing a hybrid work schedule.


ABOUT YOU

Our Highly Qualified Candidate
The ideal candidate has experience coordinating public health programs that include tracking deliverables for program metrics and supporting program operations. They have successfully worked within multidisciplinary teams including medical providers, epidemiologists, paraprofessionals, and community service providers. The ideal candidate is highly competent with spreadsheets and computer software programs and can work within a fast paced, dynamic environment where priorities and objectives change rapidly. Additionally, the ideal candidate has experience in the Public Health field, specifically in harm reduction, and serving priority populations who access harm reduction and HIV/HCV/STI services. They also understand harm reduction principles and understand the challenges related to the population served.

Qualifications 

Knowledge of 

  • Principles of program planning, reporting and evaluation.
  • Policies and procedures related to assigned program.
  • Community resources for the provision of social services, education and related services.
  • Statistical data collection methods, analysis and techniques.
  • Computer applications related to the work.

Ability to
  • Plan and coordinate program; initiate, plan and coordinate program objectives.
  • Persuade and motivate people while demonstrating interpersonal and cultural sensitivity.
  • Integrate the services of volunteers with established department programs and activities.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with program participants, staff, volunteers, and community groups from a variety of social, cultural and economic backgrounds.
  • Evaluate the skill and abilities of volunteers.
  • Develop and monitor program performance measurements.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Minimum Qualifications 
The equivalent to graduation from an accredited college with an Associate's degree in a field closely related to the assigned program(s) and two years of experience providing community, educational, rehabilitative or counseling services including responsibility for planning and implementing programs and coordinating with community resources. Additional related experience may substitute for the education on a year for year basis.

Disaster Service Workers: All County of Marin employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law (California Government Code Section 3100-3109). Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
