The MSP Airport Police Department is hiring!
The Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport Police Department (MSP APD), a division of the Metropolitan Airports Commissions (MAC), serves the entire airport campus. The department is comprised of approximately 200 employees which includes full-time officers, part-time officers assigned to terminal checkpoints, community service officers, and civilian administrative positions along with our own 911 Emergency Communications Center. This makes MSP APD one of the largest police departments in the state, with more opportunities for advancement and specialty assignments. Our department works closely with many federal agencies including: FBI, DEA, CBP, TSA and USSS.
MSP Airport Police Officers are responsible for all law enforcement duties at and around the airport to include the safety and protectionof the airport community which includes 39 million annual passengers and 21,000 employees. Officers enforce state statutes and federal regulations, local ordinances, and traffic violations. Uniformed patrols include, but are not limited to, the surrounding local roadways, highways, Air Operations Area, parking ramps, the terminal buildings, cargo facilities and other businesses within our community.
SALARY (2025 rates)Step 1 $41.959 hr. / $87,274.72 yr. Step 2 $44.584 hr. / $92,734.72 yr. Step 3 $47.204 hr. / $98,184.32 yr. Step 4 $49.827 hr. / $103,640.16 yr. Step 5 $52.975 hr. / $110,188.00 yr. Step 6 $56.814 hr. / $118,173.12 yr. (12 years of LE experience) - Ample opportunities for overtime at 1.5 times your current pay rate after completing Field Training [Departmental, Grants, and Contracts]
- Initial purchase of uniforms and equipment is paid by the department upon hire; receive $1,105 uniform allowance after first year.
- Additional $4/hr. pay for those serving as Field Training Officers or Instructors.
- Investigators/Detective receive an additional $310 month.

Currently a 12-hour rotation that allows for every other weekend off.
BENEFITS- Employer yearly contribution to HSA plans of $1,650 for single and $3,300 for family coverage. PPO plan option also available.

- Tuition reimbursement up to $4,500 per year.
- Vacation accrual starts at 120 hours. Lateral hires may receive additional accrual depending on previous experience.

JOB DUTIES
- Responds to calls and investigates crimes, disturbances, traffic accidents, emergencies, and other incidents.
- Completes written reports and forms along with collecting and processing evidence to maintain chain of custody in accordance with standard operating procedures and directives.
- Performs patrol duties in assigned areas to serve our community and detect and monitor possible criminal activity.
- Enforce laws and ordinances.
- Safety and security of critical infrastructure to deter terrorism.
- Collaborate with local and federal agencies.
- Testify in court.
- Transports subjects or arrestees to detention or medical facilities.
- Represent the MAC and MSP Airport Police Department in professional manner consistent with organizational values.
