The Youth & Adult Programs Summer Office Manager is a temporary seasonal position that assists with the day-to-day operations of the Office of Engagement & Outreach summer programs at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance, with specific focus on MPulse Summer Performing Arts Institutes. The Office Manager will also assist with other temporary seasonal staff to ensure a seamless handling of day-to-day operations of the Adult Summer Intensives.

Dates: May 19 - July 26, 2025

Employment Type: Temporary, Full-Time (~40 per week)

Reports to: MPulse Program Manager

Responsibilities*

Working with MPulse is a great experience for those who have a passion for mentorship and collaboration with others in the arts. Being a counselor for MPulse is a great way for those interested in education to get experience leading a large group of high school age students. The position allows SMTD students to be surrounded and work with U-M Faculty and Guest Artists throughout the summer and attend performances and workshops with MPulse participants. We structure their schedule so counselors have the freedom to practice and continue their own studies while earning money and living on campus free of charge. 

  • Assisting/ generating communications to parents and students prior to the start of MPulse programs.
  • Providing email and phone support to program applicants and participants.
  • Greeting and encouraging participants and faculty; presenting a warm, professional environment.
  • Coordinating MPulse room requests.
  • Facilitating MPulse facility & piano key requests and returns.
  • Creating MPulse performance and recital programs.
  • Preparing MPulse welcome information for participants and faculty.
  • Obtain, organize and disseminate to faculty and staff a required list of emergency information, medical authorization information, and medications for each participant.
  • Coordinating any MPulse participant University Health Service visits.
  • Assuring mail is sorted and disseminated to participants accordingly.
  • Creating and coordinating the weekly transportation schedule for MPulse participants.
  • Prepare and manage the placement of appropriate signage for the instructional spaces.
  • May assist with other administrative tasks for additional Summer Youth & Adult Programming.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Required Qualifications*

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise a positive service-oriented attitude.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills including the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment is necessary.
  • Excellent presentation skills, a strong work ethic, and a high level of professionalism.
  • A working knowledge of common office application suites (i.e. Microsoft Office, Google Docs, Zoom etc.).
  • Ability to work a regular and consistent schedule.
  • This position involves traveling to various locations across campus for program needs and delivering materials.

Additional Information

Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Decision Making Process
