TheIntermediate Logistics Plannerwill be responsible for the internal and external customer support for the company's truck transportation load scheduling and services function; responsible for maintenance of the company's truck freight economics activities including motor freight economics analysis and appropriate use and application of the truck freight rate database.
Responsibilities:
Transportation Functions
- Ensure that the database of all current and historical truck freight rates by geographical region, by carrier and by equipment type is developed and maintained.
- Obtain billing information from any new customer to ensure proper billing.
- Develop, maintain and report on carrier scorecards increasing efficiencies and aligning with appropriate carriers.
- Verify carriers being used have proper operating authority, insurance, W-9 and other documentation.
- Manage rate negotiation with carriers and customers daily.
- Oversee daily progress of all carriers and load completion.
- Support the long-term and short-term goals of the department.
- Solicit new business opportunities through networking, suppliers, customers, carriers and general research.
- Communicate all potential business development opportunities to Manager, Truck Sales and Service.
- Must become familiar with DOT hours of service rules and be knowledgeable on all HAZMAT regulations as well as customs and border crossing procedures into Canada.
Internal/External Collaboration
- Work cross-functionally with internal departments to improve the customer, supplier and carrier experience, and identify/fix root causes
- Communicate effectively and in a timely manner via phone, email, and any other means applicable.
- Demonstrate the ability to accept a variety of duties ranging from special projects directed by the business unit, cross training with other Transportation Coordinators, and filling in during short absences of key position personnel.
- Build and maintain relationships with sales staff, procurement, owner support and accounting teams
Process Management
- Identify and implement process improvements that will enhance department and carrier productivity and effectiveness.
- Ensure appropriate processes are in place, documented and communicated appropriately to stakeholders.
Education/Experience Required:
- Bachelor's degree plus 3 years qualified experience and/or training in logistics, transportation, or Ag background
- Experience with computer and office procedures.
- Customer Relations and people/leadership background a plus
Salary: $69,040 - $103,560
