About the Role:
The King County Wastewater Treatment Division is seeking three passionate, collaborative program managers to coordinate the delivery of our education and engagement programs. We need proven managers who will leverage their program management expertise and experience to effectively support programs that serve our local communities.
These positions will manage education programs within the Environmental and Community Services Section (ECSS) of WTD. These positions will manage programs located at our three main sites in Renton, Woodinville and Georgetown, supporting daily functions, including coordination of staffing and daily implementation of programs at each site.
These positions work with the Education & Engagement Unit Manager and Supervisors for work across the Division (WTD), Department (DNRP) and throughout King County and represent the Unit's education work with internal work groups, external consultants, and the public.

What You Will Be Doing:
These positions manage the overall daily functions of education teams that also include partner and contract staff located throughout WTD's service area. Three program manager positions are responsible for:- Daily program onsite management - managing programs at one of 3 teaching sites located in Renton, Woodinville and Georgetown; direct on-the-ground coordination with educators, operations, and maintenance staff at these sites in managing programs, safety and communications.
- Staff coordination and training - managing WTD education staff, interns, contract and partner staff, which involves scheduling and daily program oversight as well as managing training for all educators who teach programs.
- Education program development - planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of diverse education programs focused on water topics in coordination with education supervisors.
- Education program coordination - managing administrative tasks such as support for program registration, staff scheduling, communications, and logistics necessary for successful education programs.
- Teaching programs - teaching all ages about water systems including wastewater, stormwater, water quality, etc.
- Program leadership - act as lead in for one or more of the following program areas - teen intern program, City Soil Farm education programs, resource recovery programs, high school program, middle school program, elementary school program and/or career programs.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
Qualifications You Bring:
- Experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating diverse education programs focused on environmental and water related topics.
- Experience in teaching about water quality issues and water systems; wastewater, stormwater, water ecosystems, etc.
- Experience training and overseeing staff/contract educators in the daily delivery of education programs; including coordinating safety, site logistics, and daily program needs.
- Demonstrated commitment to Equity and Social justice (ESJ) in the planning and delivery of education and engagement programs.
- Demonstrated experience and skill in working with external partners and the public.
- Established ability to manage administrative logistics needed to run successful education programs including registration systems, scheduling platforms, SharePoint sites, websites, etc.
- Manages Complexity - Making sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems.
- Decision Quality - Making good and timely decisions that keep the organization moving forward.
- Builds Effective Teams - Building strong-identity teams that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals.

- Valid Washington State driver's license or out-of-state equivalent.
- Knowledge of program coordination within King County agency.
- Advanced knowledge of wastewater and stormwater education programs and curriculum.
- Knowledge of wastewater treatment systems and operations.

Working Conditions:
- Work Location: South Treatment Plant, 1200 Monster Road SW, Renton, WA, Brightwater Treatment Plant, 22505 State Route 9 S.E. Woodinville, WA, and Georgetown Wet Weather Treatment Station 6185 4th Ave. S., Seattle.
- Requirement: Employees must reside in Washington State and be within a reasonable distance to King County worksites to meet onsite reporting requirements.
- Work Schedule: This position is exempt from the overtime provision of the Fair Labor Standard Act (FLSA) and is not overtime eligible.
