Full Job Description
The Times of Northwest Indiana, a division of Lee Enterprises, is seeking a full-time Copy Editor for the 1:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. shift, Wednesday to Sunday.
The ideal candidate will be an excellent and creative journalist who is detail driven on journalistic standards, fluent in AP style and passionate about moving valuable content through the process, from reporters and editors to the reader, in print and digital platforms,for one of the largest news operations in Indiana and a leading news agency for digital readership in the country.
But copy editing skills aren't all we're looking for. We're also looking for a staff member who can, in a pinch, produce relevant news and sports content for our readers.

Responsibilities:
- Uphold high standards of The Times of Northwest Indiana's/Lee Enterprises Editorial Policy
- Uphold a positive work environment that fosters teamwork, communication, innovation, professional development and integrity
- Must be familiar with content management systems
- Edit content for flow, consistency, tone, audience, brevity, accuracy and SEO
- Also handle content for the weekly Arts & Entertainment, Food and Lifestyle sections
- Produce content on an as-needed basis
- Minimum two years experience of editing in a professional newsroom
- Bachelor's or master's degree in communications, journalism or any other subject or an equivalent combination of education and experience. ( If no degree, a minimum of four years experience of editing in a professional newsroom )
- Excellent writing, editing, communication and organizational skills
- Excellent news judgment and ethics, with keen ability to handle complex and sensitive coverage
- Extensive knowledge of AP Style
- SEO knowledge
