The Town of Wellesley Recreation Department is seeking a Behavioral Support Specialist.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:· Collaborate with the leadership team to create weekly camper group assignments, to ensure a safe and supportive camp
· Maintain a visible presence around camp, ensuring a proactive response to camper behavior issues
· Respond promptly to behavioral issues, ensuring a safe and positive camp experience for all campers and staff
· Maintain open communication with parents regarding camper behavioral and concerns
· Maintain detailed documentation involving all incidents, action and behavioral plans and
communication to leadership team and camper families
· Develop camper behavior improvement plans, offering guidance and support to campers and staff and follow up as needed
· Create and review camper evaluations
· Review camper information sheets prior to their arrival for special requirements or
considerations
QUALIFICATIONS
• Must be 21 years or older with a college degree or equivalent professional experience
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple responsibilities
• Previous experience working in a camp environment or a related field is preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work effectively in a team and
independently
• Comprehensive understanding of youth mental health and development, First aid, CPR and Youth Mental Health First Aid certifications (training can be provided during the off-season)
OTHER INFO:
- Starting Rate: $21/hour, commensurate with experience.
- Season: June 1 – August 16, 2025
- 40 hours per week.
